About
OUR MISSION
CoLab Studio Theatre is both a collaborative artistic space, and a laboratory theatre. We are driven by community and inspired by creative storytelling. We’re committed to promoting unconventional, uncommon, underrepresented, and new works with at least half of each season falling into one of these categories. CoLab also provides classes and tickets at affordable prices to promote arts access and education for all.
OUR VISION
At CoLab, we strive to promote unconventional, uncommon, underrepresented, and new works with at least half of each season falling into one of these categories. There are so many stories to be told, and infinite ways to tell them. We want to find the most colorful, effective, and resonant ones.
As our name suggests, we are a collaborative environment. We encourage local playwrights to workshop and stage their shows here. We invite local artisans to help create unique sets, props, and costumes. Engineers, lighting designers, actors, directors, clowns, comedians, musicians, authors - all artists are welcome here. Rhode Island is teeming with creative skill, and CoLab is the place to let these diverse skills shine in concert with each other.
Our team is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for everyone. We welcome all who are welcoming to others. CoLab does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
Creativity flows best when no one is afraid to pitch an idea. We can always learn something from an experiment, even if the results aren’t what we hoped. Growth cannot happen without failure, so we remove the shame and concentrate on the lessons learned. We lift each other up and pursue our goal of creative storytelling.
CoLab is a theatrical hub for the Pawtucket/Lincoln community, and serves the broader northern Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts area. We collaborate with local businesses on marketing and fundraising events. We offer classes for those who are interested in acting, playwriting, prop building, puppetry, clowning, improv, and more.
Our collaborative community efforts also drive our fundraising. Our regular fundraising events tap into local talent. This is intended to lift our community while maintaining our own sustainability.
